During the nearly 37 years of our marriage John and I have always had at least one pet dog. Although we have had several breeds that we enjoyed, our purchase of a merle female Great Dane in 1995 began our love affair with the breed. Domino's La Belle "Stella" was a gentle, loving Great Dane, a wonderful representative of the breed. I attended several obedience classes with Stella, and she was CGC and TDI certified. She lived to almost 11 years.I became interested in conformation showing and attended several handling seminars. My first successes in the ring came with handling Jasmine, Daynakin's Halfway To Heaven, to 9 single points. For her 2 majors she was handled by professionals. I have also handled Joy, Dundane's Whistle For Joy, for 4 points. Her first major and 5 single points were achieved by a professional handler. As a natural outcome of getting involved in and enjoying conformation competition I decided to begin a breeding program. It is my desire to produce Great Danes with good breed type, excellent temperament and good health. I use the Great Dane Standard to critically assess the conformation and temperament of my breeding stock, and puppies. I have the accepted health checks done on my Great Danes prior to using them in breeding. These include OFA Hips and Elbows, OFA Thyroid, Echocardiogram, and CERF(when available).I am now also involved in Great Dane Rescue in Northwest Louisiana.I am always eager and willing to "talk Great Dane", whether it is about my own Danes or general information on the breed.Tanya & John King |
